Almost all parts of the body have hair including the face. Hair on the face is particularly annoying to women. It may make them feel unfeminine, unattractive, cause stress and loss of confidence. It is normal for the face to have fine downy hair. When this hair growth is coarse and thick, the problems start. This excessive hair growth may be due to hereditary factors, hormonal imbalances or as a reaction to certain medicines.

Ask women what they find embarrassing about their face and quite a few will reveal it is the facial hair that they need to constantly battle with. While we all have a little hair on the face, there may be times when there is a sudden spurt of growth due to various reasons and this excessive hair growth is called hirsutism. The most common reason is generally a hormonal imbalance because it is the levels of estrogen that determine hair growth. Unfortunately, hirsutism is a long-term problem and while you may opt for bleaching, waxing or shaving, they cannot provide a permanent cure.

Here are a few homemade herbal remedies that can be done at home to remove hair and slow down re growth. These are effective if done regularly, say every week and require patience and per testing. Test the mask on the back of the hand for example to check there is no adverse reaction or any kind of allergy before proceeding.

The Best Homemade Remedies to Remove Unwanted Hairs:-

1. Mix sugar with freshly squeezed lemon juice and add water. Mix well and then apply it on the face in the direction of the hair growth. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Then rinse with cold water, rubbing the facial area gently. The granular sugar and lemon mixture will act as a gentle exfoliating agent and remove facial hair. The lemon juice will act as an astringent and natural anti septic. Repeat once every week to find an improvement.

2. An easy to use facial mask to help remove unwanted hair is to squeeze lemon juice into a cup of water. Add Gram flour into this mixture and mix thoroughly. Apply this yellow mixture on the face. Wait for 15 minutes and then scrub your face in the direction of the hair growth to remove unwanted hair.

3. Prepare a thick mixture of turmeric powder (haldi), Gram flour (besan) and curd. Apply t on the skin and leave it to dry. Rub off the mixture gently from your skin and wash off with water.

4. Another remedy that can help in reducing hair growth on the face and remove unwanted hair is easy to make and use every week. Squeeze lemon juice, add honey and prepare a mixture. Take a cotton swab and rub this mixture in the direction of the hair growth. Rinse after 15 minutes. Repeat twice a week for 2 weeks and then use it every week to find an improvement in the facial hair condition.

5. Make a fluid paste by soaking turmeric powder in water, apply to the facial area where you have excess hair and leave on for a few minutes. After it dries, use a cloth dipped in warm water to wipe away the turmeric and the hair, too. Apply this mask weekly once.

6. Mix equal amounts of gram flour (besan) and turmeric and add a little water to make a thick paste. Apply to the problematic part of the face, leave on until it dries totally and then dip a cloth in warm water and use to rub off this face mask – you will find that along with the gram flour (besan) mixture, the strands of hair are also removed.  Alternatively, mix a little curd to the besan-turmeric paste and apply for an equally effective hair removal remedy. If your skin is oily and mix milk cream instead of curd if your skin is dry.

7. Take about a tablespoon of sugar in a vessel, add in a teaspoon of honey and a few drops of lemon juice; heat this lightly or microwave for about 3 minutes and mix to get a smooth paste. When the paste is still slightly warm, apply it to the part of the face from where you need to pluck the hair. Cover the area with a strip of cloth and immediately pull the cloth in the direction opposite to that in which the hair is growing.

8. Take the white of one egg; add in 1 tablespoon of sugar and half a tablespoon of corn flour. Beat to make a smooth paste and apply this to the portion of your face that has unwanted hair. Once it dries, it will take on the appearance of a thin mask covering your face; all you have to do is pull it off firmly and the hair will get pulled out, too.

9. Sometimes human hormones are the main cause for unwanted growth hair, the main reason is excess amount of testosterone, generally in women. Spearmint tea may help reduce the testosterone degrees which naturally help in decreasing unwanted hair growth. Drink 1 cup of spearmint herbal tea daily each morning for greater results.

10. Pumice gems or stone contains crystals like substance that could be used for scrubbing the area where there is excess hair growth. Use it as soon as you apply water and soap or various other lubricants on the body before using it, else it could form rashes along with red spots on your skin. Using pumice gems regularly before bathing can help in completely reducing unwanted hair growth on the body.

When it comes to these home remedies for getting rid of unwanted hair, it is not that it will give you magical results overnight. Often, you have to keep repeating the treatment at regular intervals to see a difference that is noticeable. If you do not find relief even after trying these remedies on a regular basis, it is best to consult a doctor to find out if there is some other underlying medical problem that is causing the excessive growth of hair.

Hi. I have been using the besan and turmeric mask for hair removal. I also add a little diatamaceous earth as well. My question is I have some hairs around my chin area. Not the whole chin, kind of in the corners near the bottom. They are not thin, but they aren’t very thik either. How long, and how often should I continue my turmeric and beasn mask for it to have an effect? Do I have to let the hairs continue to grom and not shave or wax them while I use the mask? And am I messing up the effects by using diatamaceous earth in my mask as well?

  • Hiii.i hv very thick hairs on chin nd I thread them but they again grow back with in a day.nd I hv even used ur remedies but they are not reducing. Plz suggest me the best nd effective remedy.bcz I m fedup of hiding my face frm others
